More and more marketers are becoming aware of this powerful content format, and are quickly hopping on board the video trend to give their viewers what they want. Even more powerful than providing a resonant brand experience is the fact that videos convert. According to Adobe, shoppers that view videos are 1.81X more likely to purchase than non-video viewers.
Locate online communities relevant to the affiliate you are promoting. This might include forums, discussion boards, chat rooms, and blogs. Post often on the forum, and build a good reputation among the community members. Once people trust your judgment, you can start to include affiliate links in your posts. Do not simply spam the forums with product codes. You should sprinkle the affiliate links within genuinely useful content.
You see this a lot on travel blogger sites. Because so many of them make money via credit card affiliates, it often seems very suspicious when they talk about some kind of strategy that happens to involve utilizing the very credit cards that they get paid for. People in the community often get very upset when they detect a conflict of interest.

Theme – you don’t need a special theme for affiliate marketing, you probably just need a blog. I recommend StudioPress themes since that’s what Yoast, Matt Cutts (from Google), and I use. Matt Mullenweg, founder of WordPress also recommends them. One of the biggest mistakes I made was using a theme from Themeforest… since they’re built by independent developers who may stop making updates to their theme. This happened to me and I hear horror stories all the time about people having to switch themes and redesign their entire site. I’ve been using the same StudioPress theme (Outreach Pro) for 3 years. Their themes are lightweight (load fast), SEO-friendly via optimized code, secure, and they have a huge selection of plugins for the Genesis Framework and an awesome community in the Genesis WordPress Facebook Group. They include documentation for setting it up and will serve you for many, many years.
In most cases, the returns are nothing but their respective share in Whatsapp’s profit. Facebook has bought Whatsapp for $19B and has a user base of over 800 million. Also, the most downloaded app on the iOS store. Lets just assume that there are 50 million iOS users which means 50 million USD revenue from iOS users every year. Please keep in mind that the actual numbers are very, very high. Also, Reliance’s Tie-up in India has come up with a special plan of Rs16 pack which gives you unlimited Facebook and Whatsapp. This could work wonders for Relaince in increasing their user base. This is Reliance’s ‘return’ in their tie-up with Whatsapp in India. The team has been working on an idea where you could send money to your friends on Facebook and will be eventually launched on Whatsapp. A certain percentage will be taken as processing fee. They have also poached PayPal’s CEO to work on this project.
The only people I know off, who are making money, but still I have not seen an income statement to that effect and hence I am very cautious, are the people who run very large mailing lists. When you have numbers in the 25,000+ readers in your mailing list, it is very well possible to make affiliate money off them. However, having said this, there are two caveats to the above statement.
China’s WeChat is probably the best example of the vast potential that messaging apps hold. With over 900 million monthly active users, WeChat helps them do everything from messaging, buying grocery, hailing cabs, ordering online food and even offline payments at restaurants – all this without having to go to another app. These services not only provide the company incredible customer stickiness, they also create a remarkable revenue model.
Exposure is key to any component of a marketing strategy. By having affiliates, you can have your product or service held out for the online world to see. And by staying present on appropriate sites, your exposure will increase exponentially by staying in tune with the correct, targeted demographics. Exposure also allows you to build an image and brand name. Building those allows you to leave a lasting impression on prospective customers so that they are more likely to come back and make a purchase. And because it leaves a lasting impression, that means it is likely to be spread to others through the Internet and even word of mouth. Is affiliate marketing right for your business? This EBook will solve all your problems.
Absolutely. Affiliate marketing is a viable and legitimate to monetize your blog or website. Tens of thousands of merchants run affiliate programs and will pay you a commission for sending them sales. However, there are some scams centered around affiliate marketing. You’ll find information on how to spot affiliate scams – and avoid them – here.
With over 100 million hours of video being watched on Facebook every day, people are consuming video in various mediums across many devices, but most are moving away from snackable, short form content for a longer, more gourmet video experience. Long form videos are now representing 55% of viewing time on smartphones, and Facebook is now allowing advertisers the opportunity to take advantage of the attention of these leaned back, tuned-in video viewers with In-Stream video ad placements. These Facebook video ads are very similar to mid-roll ads on YouTube or Twitch. You may have already noticed these in-stream videos yourself as Facebook has been testing them on content that is 90 seconds or longer for the last few months.
Join one or two affiliate programs. Promote just a few products at first — stay focused on your niche by only promoting products that would appeal to your target market. Get used to the affiliate marketing model. Test which products appeals to your email list and your potential customers.
That changes today. The company introduced its plan to monetize videos and share the revenue with creators. Facebook’s revenue split with creators is the same as YouTube’s: 55% of the money earned from ads goes to the creator and 45% to Facebook. The program begins with “a few dozen” partners, including Tastemade, NBA, Hearst, Funny or Die, and Fox Sports.
This book has a format of a presentation. It introduces a reader to affiliate marketing. It is mostly written in bullet list format, like a check list of things to do and things to remember. I think it is an effective format to relay information and cuts down on fluff content. However, if you are looking for literary work you will be disappointed.
All CPA marketers put their eggs in one basket. I’ve seen plenty of the greats go from zero to hero and vice versa several time in their careers. The smart ones learn to build their own business in the process and pimp their products to CPA newbies (where the real money is). So if your only focus is to make the most money you can I would advise you not to spend it all because that business model won’t last.
Cookie stuffing involves placing an affiliate tracking cookie on a website visitor’s computer without their knowledge, which will then generate revenue for the person doing the cookie stuffing. This not only generates fraudulent affiliate sales but also has the potential to overwrite other affiliates’ cookies, essentially stealing their legitimately earned commissions.
The 5th Principle is “Practical Value.” People like to share useful or valuable information. When you give useful/valuable information in your ad copy or video, people will share your video. It’s that simple. And this means cheaper clicks and more impressions!
Different merchants have different affiliate commission rates. In this example, amazon pays a 6% base commission with additional performance incentives based on volume for this type of product. (Update: As of March 1st, 2017 Amazon has made changes to its rates. Read my article here detailing Amazon’s new affiliate commission rates and why you benefit.)
Webinars are the most popular way to do this, and you can host them on your own or as a joint venture with the merchant. (Usually, though, merchants will only participate if you can attract a certain number of attendees.)
Regarding “convincing someone to buy your product is not that easy”, I do agree with you, but at the same time, I remember all those products I’ve bought online. I did not search on Google for those products neither I went to the company websites to get information and buy. They were affiliate people and their blogs that inspired to buy them. PrettyLink Pro, SEO Pressor was recommended by Kimberley, I bought Profits Theme, WP Zon builder because Alex Whaley recommended. Similarly I bought CommentLuv Premium because Ileane, Kavita, Steve and many others were talking good about it.
Users are valuable due to network effect. If Facebook did not buy Watsapp, Google or Twitter would have taking away this chunk of million users. Big companies have incomes which scale linearly with the number of users.
With social media platforms, and Facebook in particular, moving at an astonishing rate, the need to keep abreast of changes both from an algorithmic and technical perspective are a constant requirement for agency staff and in-house Facebook Page admin managers. What was previously the perfect acquisition and engagement piece is now considered outdated or gauche and may even be penalised by the ever evolving Edgerank algorithm. Understanding what’s “working” RIGHT NOW is essential – and that changes so frequently that our slide decks are substantially updated each time we present this course.
Thanks for this post. I too have been thinking about this whole affiliate marketing idea and wondering whether it would put off my readers. I want to give my readers honest and neutral advice (I write a math blog) but there are genuinely some products which I feel I can recommend, so why not make some money if I’m going to recommend them anyway. The only problem is making sure that I can be truly neutral and be as enthusiastic about products I like which don’t have an affiliate scheme.
Hi there, love this post! I was wondering if you have any suggestions for wordpress plugins that help you integrate links automatically, like Affiliate Ninja, for instance. I would love to hear your opinion!
As far as the video filming is concerned, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on it. There is no need to hire prestigious actors or rent a fancy studio. A small business can achieve great effects with cool graphic content, which costs much less.
Focus on what works, eliminate what doesn’t. The analytics provided by your company will tell you which types of ads are working and which ones aren’t. Use more of the ads that are working and eliminate the ones that aren’t.
Relevant websites that attract the same target audiences as the advertiser but without competing with it are potential affiliate partners as well. Vendors or existing customers can also become recruits if doing so makes sense and does not violate any laws or regulations (such as with pyramid schemes).
It’s easiest to make money using Amazon’s affiliate program if the people coming to your website are looking for a specific product that your website discusses. It’s more difficult to use a website like my blog here and make money linking to physical products because the people coming here are looking for advice on how to earn money online – not what iPod speakers they should buy.
If you are writing online your posts should be brief, clear, checked for spelling and grammar and consistent. Your blog may not have broad appeal if it has limitations in these, so your EBooks and public posts can benefit from a professional proof-reader, or extra classes in English, whether it is your first language or not. Whether you write a blog, a book or anything else, your only tool to deliver your message is language, and you should gain all the skills you can with it. If you don’t have time for this, use the services of someone with the best language skills you can find.
Last but not least, remember that design is important. Beautiful images in your display ads or quality website design are a strong signal to potential customers that you are selling a quality product. Slapping together a shoddy design and expecting it to convert won’t work any better for you than it does for any other type of company.
Thanks… basically I have heard about successful guys making money by affiliating. This was drawing my attention always and today after reading your post you helped me to solve the case behind all of this.
WhatsApp will eventually charge companies to use some future features in the two free business tools it started testing this summer, WhatsApp’s chief operating officer, Matt Idema, said in an interview.
