Hi Amy! Question…I am signed up with Google Affiliate Network, and know how to place ads in sidebar. If I write a post referring to the advertiser, can put link in my post, OR, am I limited to the banner ads in sidebar?
However, by the same token, Facebook posts have a shorter lifespan. In the stream-like flow of the news feed, once a video stops getting likes and shares it quickly sinks to the bottom, rarely to be heard from again. It’s hard to search for old Facebook videos and linking to them directly is problematic. These are huge hurdles.
Monitor the success of your affiliate programs, particularly if you have several programs and/or are also using other ad types, such as Google AdSense for making money. Sometimes having too many ads dilutes the site or distracts readers, resulting in lower performance.
Boot Camp Digital created a wonderful Social Media Certification Program at Cincinnati State. The instructor was passionate about the subject and had tremendous knowledge and skill in all aspects of social media strategy and implementation. The trainer was energetic and entertaining, and is interactive with her students. I would highly recommend Boot Camp Digital’s training courses to anyone…
It’s not for everyone, and trust me, the guys doing REALLY well don’t talk. Because they’re not dumb… if I told you I was killing it, wouldn’t you want to do the same and come try to screw around with my biz?
Advertisers also will be given the option to specify whether they would like their in-stream ads to appear on Facebook itself, or across the range of websites and apps in Facebook’s Audience Network ad network product. They can also choose both.
The most striking feature of Facebook video ads is how they “auto-play”. Facebook video ads are defined as a “richer storytelling format for advertisers”, they are limited to 15 seconds in length. The video ads automatically play without sound when users scroll down the newsfeeds, and the video ads stop playing if users scroll past. The sound only plays if users click on the video ad or make it full-screen. Once the 15-second video finishes, two more related links pop up with videos from the same brand.
Whoever is managing the program does the work of recruiting quality affiliates, getting them engaged, finding ways for them to promote the merchant, and valuing the ones that bring in incremental revenue.
Video sharing websites: YouTube videos are often utilized by affiliates to do affiliate marketing. A person would create a video and place a link to the affiliate product they are promoting in the video itself and within the description.
Finch, would an intermediate marketer be able to operate with a day job, or is the time requirement too large? And would PPC (Adwords rather than Bing, given the volume) still be a tool – or is it too competitive these days? Thanks.
But many industry watchers expect video, and specifically, mobile video, to be a major source of revenue growth engine for Facebook in the next year. Despite a recent deal to host two new HBO shows, Facebook maintains it is focused on short form videos and not long-form TV shows and movies. A prior deal in 2011 with Warner Brothers to host movies including the Dark Knight fizzled.) “Facebook is used as a product [in] short, bite-sized sessions—people dipping in and out, multiple times a day, and for brief periods of time,” Rose says. Suggested Videos and News Feed are optimized for short-form video, he added.
Thank you for this very informative and easy to understand information. I’m wondering if the same information applies to blogs as well as an e-commerce website? My biggest obstacle is getting traffic to my website. Having all this wonderful information and affiliates is great but only if people see it.” If you build it they will come” I have found does not apply to websites. Thanks!
Hi Dharmendra, Good question.. I would recommend a right combination of both paid and non paid promotion would be beneficial. But at the same time it totally depends on the niche you are working in.. Your decision depends on the niche, high commodity product, low commodity products, headonic or utilitarian aspect etc.
Also, Facebook’s improved the Brand Awareness objective, where you can now track “Ad Recall Lift,” which shows the estimated number of people Facebook estimates will remember seeing your ads within 2 days.
Whenever you recommend a product to your consumer and if they choose to buy it, always make the follow up. Always get the comments and reviews as how they found that product and always be there to assist them in case they find any inconvenience or problem using that product. This is how you will never lose the trust of your audience and your name will become more credible in the market.
Invite readers back to your blog. Roughly 4% of my readers click through to my blogs. On average, I make $1–2 per visitor. Not only are these visits an opportunity to introduce readers to value-adding services, but you can also get their e-mails, re-target with ads later, build credibility, have your content shared, etc. Here’s a walkthrough video for building your blog.

Most blogs won’t allow the author to include their own affiliate links (but it’s worth checking). The next best thing is to link to the definitive content on your own blog, either naturally within the body of your post or in your author’s bio.
Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways to monetize online content. E-commerce websites are a bit different. You can still use affiliate marketing on them, but you’re right, how well you do with affiliate marketing is often dependent on your traffic. Still, some key affiliates on a static website can still bring in some decent income. And you’re right that “if you build it they will come” no longer applies to websites anymore given the sheer number of websites on the internet. My suggestion is to get out there, take part in forums where your potential customers would hang out, comment on blogs providing useful information and do your best to get your name out there in as many ways as you can think of.
Hi Warren. The best thing to do in your situation is to simply break the process down into steps—like the steps laid out here. Make it your goal to take on one thing at a time, then tackle it as quickly as possible.
